On behalf of the Department of Black Studies, we would like to invite our Majors, Minors, BSU and the BSE to meet with BLST Chair Search candidate Professor Walter Rucker.

Walter Rucker is an associate professor of history at Rutgers University whose work explores the cultural transformation of African peoples in the early Atlantic world. Professor Rucker has authored two works on this and related themes - The River Flows On: Black Resistance, Culture, and Identity Formation in Early America and Gold Coast Diasporas: Identity, Culture, and Power - and has also written about the institutionalization of Black Studies Programs and Departments across the country.
