Black Studies 193JS (Open Availabilities!)

"The first of its kind, this experimental and experiential team-taught class in Black Studies will stay connected online with a Black aesthetics course simultaneously being offered at CalArts. Teaming up with Douglas Kearney, professor at CalArts, and Victoria Hungerford, a Black Studies alum and CalArts graduate, we will explore two concepts--the notion of embodiment in Black visual arts, and the notion of unacknowledged presence in Black culture. Four of the ten classes will be taught jointly using the superb technical facilities of UCSB's department of Instructional Development. If you want to see a syllabus, please contact me at jstewart@blackstudies.ucsb.edu."
