Professor Strongman is a cultural studies scholar whose research focuses on comparative Caribbean literature and religion. His articles have appeared in diverse venues including Callaloo, Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies, Journal of Haitian Studies, Journal of Caribbean Studies, Kunapipi and Wadabegei. He has authored Queering Black Atlantic Religions: Transcorporeality in Candomblé, Santería and Vodou (Duke UP, 2019) and is working on a second book project on Afroamerican religion on the Caribbean coast of Panamá.
