Lecturer in the Department of Black Studies. Received his B.A. in Philosophy and English from the University of Lagos, Nigeria; an M.A. in Communication Arts from Loyola Marymount University; and his Ph.D. in Cinema-Television Critical Studies from the University of Southern California. Dr. Akudinobi's research interests lie in the relationship between culture, media and society. He has done a study examining the textual and symbolic functions of Africa in the dominant cinema of the '80s. His feature-length screenplay, Eze, uses the traditional African institutions to mobilize discourse on the concept of destiny.
