JO FOBBS:
“She Got A Dick!”: Challenging Black Sexual Norms Through Queer and Trans Hip-Hop
In this project, I examine hip-hop videos by Black queer/trans artists, locating expressions that destabilize heteronormative, phallocentric understandings of the Black body.

JAMES KITSON:
“Countin’ the Blues:” Mapping a Black Queer Feminist Tradition in the Music of “Ma” Rainey
I map the emerging Black queer feminist themes throughout the music of Gertrude “Ma” Rainey, specifically calling attention to the ways in which Rainey’s music vocalizes Black queer potentialities and reclaims power.
